What went well during your online microteaching lesson?
The online microteaching lesson went smoothly in terms of content delivery. I was able to engage learners using interactive tools like PowerPoint slides and YouTube videos which kept the session dynamic. The structure of the lesson was clear, and the transitions between different activities were seamless. Additionally, I received positive feedback from peers about my clear explanations and the way I kept learners engaged through questions and interactions.
What challenges or obstacles did you encounter, and how did you address them?
One major challenge was ensuring that all learners were actively participating. In an online environment, it is easy for learners to disengage, especially when their cameras are off. To address this, I implemented more frequent check-ins, making learners to respond in the chat box. Another obstacle was technical issues, such as some learners having connectivity problems. I prepared for this by sharing my slides ahead of time and recording the lesson so that those who missed parts could catch up later.
Did your lesson meet the learning objectives you set out to achieve?
Yes, the lesson met most of the learning objectives. The main goals were to help learners understand a specific concept and apply it through practical activities. Based on the assessments during the lesson such as questions, learners demonstrated their understanding. However, I felt that time management could have been improved, as I rushed through the final part of the lesson due to earlier delays.
Did you choose appropriate ICT tools to teach your online lesson? Explain why.
I believe I chose appropriate ICT tools for the lesson. I used tools like YouTube video, Additionally, I used PowerPoint Slides for visual support. These tools allowed for interaction and engagement, which are crucial in an online environment to keep learners focused and involved. The variety of tools helped cater to different learning styles and made the session more interactive.
What did you learn from this experience that you can apply to the teaching of this lesson in the classroom?
I learned the importance of clear instructions and pacing, especially in an online environment where communication can sometimes lack. In a physical classroom, I would make certain to maintain this clarity but also add more hands-on activities since learners are present. I also realized that incorporating interactive elements, such as quick check-ins keep learners engaged, whether online or in-person. I will continue using these strategies in a classroom setting to secure active learning.
How did you incorporate feedback from peers, mentors, or students into your lesson improvement process?
I received valuable feedback from peers regarding my pacing and how I could involve learners more in the discussions. For my next lesson, I plan to slow down during main points and incorporate more open-ended questions to encourage deeper thinking. My mentor suggested using simpler ICT tools to avoid technical overwhelm, and I have taken that into account by exploring more user-friendly platforms. Additionally, some learners suggested more visual aids, so I will incorporate more visuals in future lessons to cater to visual learners.

Teaching online may be challenging, but you conducted the lesson well. Learners may feel like they do not need to participate in online classes, but I’m glad you initiated engagement in your lesson.
Your use of power point and youtube videos added a dynamic and engaging element to the content. Overall it was a well executed lesson. Well done!
Your reflection on the online microteaching lesson is comprehensive and shows a thoughtful analysis of what went well and areas for improvement. It highlights your adaptability, use of ICT tools, and focus on engagement. Additionally, your willingness to incorporate feedback is valuable for professional growth. Is there anything specific you would like to expand on or adjust in the reflection, such as the impact of feedback from peers or further plans for enhancing student engagement?
